R Kelly

R Kelly - King Of R'n'B

R Kelly is known as the 'King Of R'n'B' due to his huge fan base of both males and females. All his tracks are successful as his audience are able to relate to the lyrics, understand the music video or feel the same feelings. The fact he is able to have both males and females interested in his songs can pay off in many ways; he does not need to just sing sexual songs for the females, as males are able to listen to them without feeling a weird type of way.

Not only has his music career helped him have the crown of 'King' but his reputation has also been exceptional. The media portrays many stories or sides to celebrity's lifestyles. When being interviewed Mr Kelly does not come across as 'cocky' or 'arrogant' but more down to earth and willing to have a conversation with anyone without having to bring money into it.  People can relate and will learn to love R Kelly as he is a genuine down to earth person.

For example, the video is an interview with R Kelly, at 0:44 seconds, R Kelly is asked "what do you eat for breakfast?" and he replies "sometimes it can be bacon, egg, sometimes coffee"/ Though this is general, it shows to the public he's not arrogant with himself, and loves to share his own lifestyle.

Set aside his singing career, Mr Kelly has set a 'gangster' trend to his audience, he is also famous for wearing sunglasses no matter what the weather, hats backwards, long oversized jackets without a top underneath, and baggy pants and trendy trainers. This gave him a 'cool' look, which the females fell head over heels for, which made the males want to copy for the ladies to love them too. He kept this dress sense and is now noticed by this, for example people could say "the man that always wears sunglasses?" and the responder would know it's R Kelly.

Having a huge recognition, it is for certain R Kelly's private life will not be private. The media was quick to judge his friendship with Aaliyah Haughton back in the 90's, this effected his fan base as the girls was thinking Aaliyah is too young, and could Mr Kelly be a pedophile? Also the males found this shocking, however this was not the case, just the media exploited the story way out of proportion. The media digged deep until they was able to find evidence of this, finding a marriage certificate between both Aaliyah and Mr Kelly, showing her real age was 18. This highly effected his fan base, though he dealt with the situation well by carrying himself in an orderly manor and not striking out on paparazzi.

This had then grew a huge amount of his audience back in as it showed he does not need to cause a scene for publicity; he did not want to explain his private life to everyone and this was respected by his fans. This again made his popularity grow, people was then talking about his music, fashion, relationships etc.

Nothing is personal when your the King of R'n'B, Mr Kelly's family had also been in the media. This made his appearance more popular, especially to the women as they will not only see him as a seductive singer, but also a loving family man. The media leaked that R Kelly's 14 year old child Jaya is now a trans-gender, and changed his name to Jay. The brave ten made the announcement on his social media two weeks ago, and his singer father, who has been silent on the issue, finally addressed the revelation this week saying "you don't really wanna open it up by saying that my daughter is becoming my son" he also stated that "I've heard a lot of things about a lot of people and it was never true.. you gotta know there's a back story, there's a background, thats why you cant judge nobody".

The fact Mr Kelly was not rude about his son's decision, again made his popularity increase, people warmed to his soulful words and agreed that nobody should judge anyone without knowing the whole story. This showed he is again, a down to earth person, unlike some celebrities who are extremely quick to judge others upon their choices and mistakes, R Kelly instead states never to judge anyone.
